Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Over the years, it has become much more than a profession — it is how I connect with the world, express myself, and make moments a little more special.

My early musical journey began with the piano. I took up the cello during my secondary school years, while continuing my piano studies alongside it through university, when the cello ultimately became the focus of my professional path. This foundation in both instruments remains integral to the way I approach music as a performer and educator.

From China to Canada, from teaching at Tianjin Conservatory of Music to returning to the classroom at the University of Toronto, my musical life has been enriched by different cultural and educational traditions, each leaving its own distinct imprint. These experiences revealed dimensions of music that resonate across cultures and embody our shared humanity. Along the way, I completed two Master’s degrees in Cello Performance and had opportunities to learn from extraordinary musicians, including Yo-Yo Ma and Mischa Maisky. Their artistry has influenced not only how I play, but also how I understand and perceive music.

Today, I continue to perform in a variety of settings, from concert stages to private events, while also teaching students of different ages and levels. I also enjoy collaborating with other musicians and taking part in musical activities in the community.

I hope, music can inspire us, open something within us, and bring something to life that would otherwise be missing.
